Giving Back to the Community

The Maxx has been giving back to the community since 2007, when they formed their 501c3 non-profit, Musical Youth Of America. This organization was formed to encourage elementary and middle school kids to play a music instrument. Furthermore, they provide affordable lessons, scholarship aid for lessons, and loan instruments to students from low income families. As part of the program, The Maxx participates in music workshops that are given in elementary and middle schools across the southeast. The purpose of the workshop is to demonstrate different musical instruments with hopes of igniting a spark to encourage kids to play.

Of course this is a nice thing to do, but it is to the point where something must be done. Lead vocalist Rainy Middleton explains, “In a climate of budget cuts in the public school system, music programs are the first to be cut. As a result less kids are being exposed to music education. This is our way of trying to rescue a crumbling system.” The Maxx has also founded an organization geared toward high school music students entitled, Band Room Nation, which supports high school music programs across America, and their latest organization, AMC which aides local Atlanta musicians.

Much of the funding for these organizations come from The Maxx. If you would like to donate, volunteer, or purchase items to help the cause, please log on to www.musicalyouthofamerica.org.
